Turnout for the Artisans of Steenburg event was fantastic, and it was a great showcase of the talented people right here on our lake.
The SLCA would like to thank Lynn Rusaw for organizing the event, the Cochrane's for hosting it, and all the artists who shared with the community.
The Fun Run is scheduled for next Saturday, August 13th on the south road, and we hope to see you there.

The SLCA is happy to confirm that the 2016 Beach Regatta and BBQ will take place as originally scheduled at the North Road beach on Saturday, July 9th starting at 11am.
Jennifer Vanner has graciously stepped forward to host the events with the assitance of her brother Justin.
The events will be swimming, canoe, kayak and paddle boat races as well as a canoe relay race with age categories of 9 and under, 10-13, 14-17 and 18 +.
To make this event possible, the executive team is working together, and with the assistance of other members, to fill the void left by the absence of the Social Committee chairperson.
Notably, the Stallaert's have co-ordinated the necessary arrangements including the food supplies, and have recruited the assistance of the Schad & DeBoo families for the transporation of the BBQ. Medals and merchandise will be provided by the Butler's. All volunteers are sincerely appreciated.
It's a great day when members can come together in support of our community.
It remains a mystery why the Social and Municipal Affair positions remain vacant.

Please be advised that the annual Beach Regatta tentatively scheduled for July 9th, still has no volunteer(s) to help run the events.
The SLCA can be on hand to run the BBQ and the merchandise table, and we would be happy to provide guidance and assistance in preparing and executing the event.
But if we have no volunteers by this Friday, June 24th, then this event will be cancelled.
Contact Pat Stallaert or any member of the Executive if you need more information or wish to help. Names, and executive emails are provided below.

It is already spring and the May long weekend is just around the corner, marking the traditional kick-off of the Canadian cottage season.
This is also the time of year when many in our community begin to re-emerge and take interest in everything this association has to offer.
To this end, the SLCA executive team will be holding their spring meeting next weekend, and our members are encouraged to contact a team member if they have any questions or concerns.
Most importantly, we would like to REMIND everyone that KEY positions on our association remain vacant, including i) Social Director, ii) Municipal Affairs, and iii) Vice-President.
No experience required. You just need enthusiasm, and a desire to share some of your time to keep our community together.

We couldn't ask for better weather over the New Year, with a nice dusting of snow to keep us in the holiday spirit.
Temperatures have dropped significantly since then, and the lake even appears to have a thin layer of ice.
Please do not take any chances around this fresh ice, and be very careful as the ice thickens in the weeks ahead.
The climate has been somewhat unpredictable this year, and there is still rain in the forecast ahead.
